The Power of Small Steps
As you consider making changes and setting goals, don’t underestimate the power of small steps. Maybe you need to make a drastic change. I’ve done that many times with great results.
But I am learning the power of many small steps in the same direction. It may be more powerful than grand actions.
Instead of a crash diet, consider changing your daily snack to something more healthy.
Instead of buying a new tracking system to instill fear and accountability, spend one on one time every week with one of your staff talking about tactical excellence.
Another example of this is what I am experiencing with language learning. I grew up with a lot of Spanish speaking friends and I have worked in multiple Spanish speaking countries, so I have been able to speak “Spanglish” for many years. But I still I dreamed of a grand immersion experience in a Spanish-speaking country so I could finally become fluent—but never made the big move.
However, my experience with Duolingo has been even better than I expected. 900 days in and I’m not sure I am fluent yet, but I am much, much closer to that. And I didn’t have to uproot my family or my business. I only had to spend 5 to 10 minutes per day.
What great changes could you make with small steps?
